Midnight Children – opening November 2

One of our most talented Canadian Directors has a new film out, please support our Canadian films and go wash a heart warming film this weekend. Below are Deepa’s own thoughts on the film.

The day is finally here – Midnight’s Children is being released in Toronto, Vancouver & Halifax this Friday, November 2nd! The first weekend in theatres is very important for the life of a film, so I want to encourage you (and all of your friends, foes, coworkers, etc. etc) to go see the film this weekend ensuring that it has a strong start and a good, long run in theatres.

This movie is extremely dear to my heart. It speaks to the quest for identity, family and the triumph of hope; things we all have personally dealt with at one time or another. While walking around Telluride, Colorado with Salman a few months back, someone walked by us after the screening of MC and we overheard them saying that it was “just like Forrest Gump…but with brown people!” Of course, Salman attested that he wrote the book before Tom Hanks read the script…
This moment, while exciting, can be pretty nerve wracking, like sending a child out into the world. All you can do is ask everyone you know to take good care of it once they’ve walked out the door. So here I am, asking you to make sure this movie, this thing I’ve nurtured for the past few years, gets sent off with a good start. The first steps are the most important ones.
Please spread the word any way you can. David Hamilton & I are sincerely grateful for your support.
